Summer is over, and at Sharks Mechelen the ice is ready for a brand-new season. And we're not just starting over: we're starting fresh.
One club, one identity
Golden Sharks, Sharks, Cold Play Sharks... over the years quite a few names have come and gone. Nice names with a nice story, but also a bit confusing, both for ourselves and for everyone getting to know the club from the outside.
We're putting an end to that now. From this season on, we play under two clear names: Sharks and Sharks Women. Short, strong and clear. One club, one family, one identity on and off the ice.
A new website
A new identity calls for a new website. Our brand-new site is ready: clearer, more modern and easier to find what you're looking for. Games, training sessions, teams, news and info for new members, all in one place.
Feel free to take a look and let us know what you think.
A new way of training
On the ice too, we're taking a new direction. From this season on, we're expanding our youth program (U8 to U18) with more ice time and more attention to each player's individual development.
Our training sessions will now combine ICE levels, allowing players to train on full ice for 1.5 hours instead of 1 hour. Every player gets the chance to combine two groups and progresses based on objective tests — skating technique, stickhandling, game sense and more. Goalies get extra training and a separate evaluation, and there's also weekly off-ice training and free public skating.
The goal is clear: nurture talent, keep fun at the center, and help every player grow into a robust, self-assured and technically skilled ice hockey player.
Ready for the new season
The skates are sharpened, the sticks are ready and the eagerness is high. Whether you're a loyal supporter, have been playing for years, or want to try ice hockey for the first time: you're most welcome at the Sharks.
We'll see each other on the ice. 🦈
Go Sharks!
